COLM McElroy's suggestion that ‘lady luck' helped him win County Armagh's September Medal is perhaps a modest admission.

The 16-handicapper's nett 64 won the final medal competition of the season at the city course – on countback! For teenager Adam Cromwell – playing off a handicap of five - recorded a very similar and hugely impressive nett 64.

Junior Girls' will hold their last competition of the season on Saturday 17th September. This will be a match play competition for the Eileen Steenson Cup.

On Thursday 29th September the annual presentation of Cups and Trophies will take place in the club.

On Thursday 8th September Club Professional Alan Rankin, completed a very successful ten weeks of coaching with the Junior Girls, by holding a Skills Challenge.

Medals were presented to winners in each category and overall winner was Aoife McCreesh.

87 ladies, including a considerable number of visitors, competed for the coveted Armaghdale Cup on Saturday 3 rd September. This competition was again generously sponsored by Gerard Davidson Business Account Services, represented on the night by his wife lady member Frances.

Karen Edgar was delighted to be the winner of the historic and prestigious trophy with an excellent nett 70, followed by runner up Katherine Steenson with a nett 71.

JONATHAN McKnight was simply untouchable in the Alan Rankin PGA sponsored stableford competition at County Armagh.

With 44 points, his winning score was four points better than all the rest.

The 8-handicapper penciled in eight pars and a birdie for a front nine score of 23 points. And recording further steady scoring on the back nine, with a further birdie – at the 18 th – his 42 points was always a winner.

HENRY Lyttle he may be by name, but when it comes to winning at golf he's ‘Mister Big'.

In the F&K Smyth Restoration and Decoration sponsored stroke competition at County Armagh, the city handyman nailed victory with a superb nett 63, winning by two clear shots.

Five pars, three bogeys and a double bogey saw the 21-handicapper just five shots over par at the turn. And with a birdie, two pars, two bogeys, two double bogeys and a triple bogey recorded on the back nine, there was still sufficient shots remaining to register that impressive nett 63.
