AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

LEE Stewart got his Woods Cup competition round off to a flying start with three birdies from the first four holes at County Armagh.

The 7-handicapper drilled birdies at the 1st, 3rd and 4th holes on his way to a winning gross 72 score in the scratch competition for 6-9 handicappers.

County Armagh Golf Club Captain Martin Oliver presents the Woods Trophy to Lee Stewart. Runner up was Mark Shannon (left). Andrew Millar collected the Best Gross Score Prize.

It was two shots better than Mark Shannon, runner up, with a gross 74. The young 7-handicapper was also in birdie form – at the 2nd, 6th and 18th for an excellent finish.

Andrew Miller (2) was the top gross scorer in the club on the day – his gross 71, with birdies at the 6th and 15th holes, very much deserving of the prize.
