AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Updated 26th July 2022

Information for recently joined members and members returning to County Armagh Golf Club with regard to attaining a golf handicap and/or transferring a handicap from another club.

  • New Handicaps: Adult members who have never before held an official handicap are required to complete 54 holes (either 3 rounds of 18 or 6 rounds of 9) while playing from WHITE OR GREEN TEE MARKERS (for male members), RED MARKERS (for lady members) and QUALIFYING CONDITIONS. (Players must also disclose any previous playing experience and standards reached in other Sports.) Cards must be marked by a member of the club who already holds a current handicap, and on completion be dated and signed by both player and the marker. Cards can then be marked “for handicap” and posted into the box in the Competition Office for the attention of the Handicap Convenor. The member will then be allocated an initial handicap index. After they play 20 rounds they will have a full handicap index and be eligible for 1stprize in all County Armagh Golf club competitions. Until they have 20 scores on their record they can win other prizes but not the 1st prize.
  • Lapsed Handicaps: Players, who have not played in competitions for a period of 12 months for whatever reason, must return 3 cards in qualifying conditions i.e. White or Green Markers (Red for lady members) before their “competition handicap” is reinstated.
  • Players transferring from another club: If a player joins County Armagh Golf Club from another club, they are required to supply a CHD number which then can be used to set them up as a member.

Further guidance on the procedures to be followed can be obtained from the Handicap Convenor.
