LITTLE more than a month ago Ronan O'Reilly was cut two shots for his impressive victory in the McElvanna Drapery and Footwear sponsored stroke competition at County Armagh.
But off a six-handicap he still proved the man to beat in the recent Sunday Stableford. His 40 points won the day, one point ahead of Anthony Hillen (12).
Fourteen pars, a birdie and three bogeys secured 21 and 19 points front and back nine respectively.
His playing partner Anthony Hillen's unfortunate double bogey at the first was to prove costly, but he will still have been delighted to collect the runner's up prize.
Paul Pender (12) led home the low handicappers with 38 points winning Category 1, albeit on countback from John Vernon (9) whose ‘no-score' at the 13 th proved even more costly.
William Knipe (16) was the deserved winner in Category 2 with 39 points – even with ‘no scores' at the 6 th and 17 th holes, with Alec Nesbitt (13) runner up on 38 points.
Dwayne Houston claimed the plaudits in Category three with 37 points which was a massive six points better than runner up Paul Donnelly.
