Around 60 ladies played for the July Medal which was very generously sponsored by Benetton. It was another very hot day and the course was playing well. The scores were good but it was one of the up and coming juvenile girls, Ciarrai Devlin who took first place with a net 67, closely followed by Una Cullinane with a net 68.

This week's Competition was very kindly sponsored by Fab Beauty Salon in Armagh. Sylvia Ashe streaked into the lead with an amazing 46 points well ahead of her nearest rival. As it was a Bank Holiday weekend there was a fun element to it with a prize going to the person with the least putts! This was Ann Murphy with 27 putts. PADDY Digby is being tipped as favourite to lift the Pat Russell Memorial Trophy after topping the County Armagh Golf Club Seniors competition qualifying table for the final week.

With 95 points chalked up over the 12 week qualifying period, Paddy is already guaranteed his place in the 36-hole finals in September.

Only Pascal Toner on 87 points can catch Paddy as the competition enters its final week.

The top 30 senior golfers from the club will qualify for the finals but with the weekly league table showing a plethora of players in with a shout, an exciting climax is anticipated.
