AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

DAVID P Grimley rejoined what appears an endless list of Grimley's who have featured in the prizes this year at County Armagh by winning the recent Sunday stableford competition.

His 41 points was the best on the day in the Complete Living Solutions sponsored event - albeit in countback where his better back nine pushed another 41 pointer, Alec Nesbitt, into second place.

But it meant David now joins dad David, who was also listed among the competition winners on the day, Kieran and Nathan - all from the same wider Grimley family - in the list of top prize winners in club competitions this season.

A respectable 17 points from the front nine holes reflected little of what 21-handicapper David was to produce on the back nine - a superb 24 points - and that with a 'no score' at the 18th hole.

Alec Nesbitt's 'no score' at the 15th hole undid all his good work in securing 21 points on the front nine and restricted his scoring across the back nine to 20 points for his runners up prize.

Andrew Millar also signed for 41 points and had Senior Cowdy team captain Richard Black wondering had he made the right decision to list the young Killylea man as a reserve in the match against Concra Wood on the very same day. But Richard no doubt will claim he called it correctly in team selection with County Armagh taking 29.5 of the 32 available points against their border club neighbours.

Andrew, meantime, with a one under par round, secured with a birdie 2 at the 9th hole, will also have been satisfied with his first prize in Category 1. Shea Smith's 39 points earned him runners up.

Paul Kelly with 38 points, picked up the top prize in Category 2 - his score one better than David Grimley's 37 points.

And Brendan Lynch was best in Category 3 with 38 points, again one better than runner up Brian Cleland who produced a massive 24 points from the back nine holes.

David Gimley collects his son David's prize after he won the Complete Living Solutions sponsored Sunday stableford competition at County Armagh Golf Club. Captain Pat McAleavey makes the presentation and is joined by Paul Doyle, representing sponsors Complete Living Solutions, and other prize winners in the competition, Brendan Lynch, Andrew Millar and Alec Nesbitt.
