AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

BETWEEN them it's been a wait of more than 50 years, but golfers Nigel McMahon and Neil Cromwell have each recently celebrated their first hole-in-one.

The two County Armagh Golf Club members recorded their 'aces' at the city course.

In the Tuesday Cup competition, three handicapper Neil's perfect six-iron shot to the par three 11th green found the cup, ending a wait of 36 years for that elusive hole-in-one.

"I've been playing golf since I was six so I suppose I was due one," smiled Neil, whose fourball on the day included son Adam, Andy Conn and Kieran Murray.

And Nigel nailed his perfect golf shot at the par three 3rd hole with an eight-iron.

"It's my first in the 20 years I've been playing the game," beamed Nigel, who was joined in the recent Interclub Mixed Matchplay qualifying competition with Carolyn McCall, Davy Baird and Lorraine Abbott. "And we didn't even win the match!"
