3rd Pat Brannigan nett 66
Brian Loney is presented with the Connolly Cup by Mrs Patricia Connolly after winning the annual scratch competition at County Armagh Golf Club. Included also are Club Captain Tom Calvert (right) and Pat Brannigan, competition runner up.
Big Cup for Big Brian
BIG Brian Loney had the big Connolly Cup to collect after winning the annual competition for 16 and above handicappers.
Mrs Patricia Connolly presented the trophy at the County Armagh Clubhouse after congratulating Brian on his winning round.
His nett 64 was two shots better than his nearest rival Mark Robinson and Pat Brannigan (snr) who had to be separated on countback each with scores of nett 66.
Killylea man Brian enjoyed a steady front nine with just two bogeys on his card at the third and fifth holes. And that steady round continued through ten and eleven before he bogeyed the 12th, the 14th and proceeded to double bogey 15 and 16. Fortunately he gathered himself and although dropped a further two shots at the 17th and 18th holes, returned a winning score nett 64.
Mark Robinson followed up his Tuesday Cup blitz earlier in the week with an excellent nett 66 score to claim second prize. A triple bogey seven at the 18th undoubtedly his downfall in an otherwise steady round.
And Pat Brannigan likewise will be kicking himself for a triple bogey seven at the last. His nett 66 however, earned him third prize on countback.

County Armagh Golf Club Captain Tom Calvert is pictured with Philip Devlin, who collected fourth prize in the Sunday Club Stroke competition.
Thomas lands Club Stroke prize
A one over par front nine laid the foundations for an excellent 63nett victory for Thomas Murray in the Sunday Club Stroke competition.
The 11-handicapper dropped shots at the first, fifth and ninth holes, but birdies at the fourth and eighth saw him just that one shot over at the turn. A double bogey seven at the tenth followed and he dropped another shot at the 13th but recovered some ground with a brilliant birdie three at the 16th. He could even afford to drop a shot at the final hole to leave him three over on the return trek and winning with a nett 63.
Kieran Grimley, enjoying a rich vein of form recently, was just one shot adrift on nett 64 after his round of two over front and two over back nine.
Keith Hamilton's double bogey six at the the 18th ultimately cost him the top prize and indeed the runners up prize, the 13-handicapper returning a nett 64 also and losing out on countback.
Newcomer Philip Devlin opened his winning account at the club with a nett 65 and better back nine securing him fourth prize on the day. And Gary McCourt, playing of a nine handicap, claimed the fifth and final prize with a nett 65 also.

1st Neil Linton Gross 74 (back nine)
2nd John Lavery Gross 74
3rd Michael McGurk Gross 76
The Webster Cup is presented the Neil Linton by County Armagh Golf Club Captain Tom Calvert. Neil returned a Gross 74 to win the annual competition. Included also is John Lavery, runner up.
Neil's late birdie wins Webster Cup
Neil Linton's birdie three at County Armagh's 18th hole ultimately secured him the Webster Cup in the Open Scratch competition.
The Killylea man shared the winning score Gross 74 with John Lavery but claimed the top prize in countback with that birdie three at the last.
Three dropped shots at the first, second and ninth holes were the only blemishes on Neil's card for the outward trek and that steady form continued on the homeward trek which he completed just one over par.
John Lavery was equally impressive, one over after nine but dropped three shots over the back nine to lose out to Neil.
Michael McGurk's Gross 76 secured him thrid prize.

1st James Conlon Gross 71
2nd Stuart Lee Gross 72
3rd Kieran Donnelly Gross 73
James Conlon is presented with the Woods trophy by County Armagh Golf Club Captain Tom Calvert after winning the annual scratch competition. Included also is Kieran Donnelly, competition runner up.
Student James lifts Woods trophy
BIG-hitting James Conlon lifted the Woods Trophy in the Open Scratch competition at County Armagh with a superb exhibition of golf and a brilliant Gross 71 winning score.
Birdies at the second and eighth holes compensated for a bogey at the first hole and a double bogey at the fourth holes. And with pars all of the others, the city student was just one over par at the halfway stage. In between a further seven pars James tucked away a birdie four at the twelfth hole and but for one dropped shot at the 17th it should have been a level par back nine.
However, his Gross 71 it was enough to win the coveted prize by a shot from seven-handicapper Stuart Lee who returned an equally impressive Gross 72. In very similar fashion he too was just one over after nine holes and with birdies at the 10th and 12th holes might even have bettered James' score had he not dropped shots at both the par threes on the back nine and a further shot at the relatively easy 15th hole.
Six-handicapper Kieran Donnelly was even more impressively one under after 15 holes before he dropped a shot at the 16th hole and a further two at the 18th to finish with a Gross 73. It deserdly earned him third prize.
And Wayne Telford picked up the Gross 0-5 Handicap prize with a Gross 70, the three-handicapper knocking in no less than six birdies during his level par round.

A Senior moment for Captain Tom!
County Armagh Golf Club Captain Tom Calvert won the Open Week Seniors competition by what he readily admits himself was the narrowest of margins.
It was his 23 points racked up over the back nine holes to accompany 19 points over the front nine holes for a total 42 which ultimately won Tom the prize. Birdies at holes five, 13 and 14 where the highlight of his round.
But clipping at his heals were no less than four players also returning 42 points - Mick Murphy, Eugene Creelman, visitor Colin Wallace and Richard Black.

An excellent 44 points - 22 recorded both front and back nines - secured Ian the prize in a considerably reduced field from the previous day.
Barrie Walker had surprisingly the better of Ian over the front nine holes with 24 points, but could add only a further 19 for a total 43 points to take second prize. His round included birdies at the second, fifth, sixth, eighth and 12th holes.
Eamon McVeigh was two points further adrift on 41 points with 20 and 21 points respectively front and back nine holes took third.
And Kieran Mullan returned to the prizes with 40 points claiming fourth on the day, a birdie three at the par four fifth hole the highlight of his round which yeilded 20 points front and back nines.
