Neil nails it!
Three closing pars secured the Sunday Club Stableford competition first prize for Neil Monaghan.
The 13-handicapper nailed the course's most difficult 16th hole and delivered par scores at the 17th and 18th holes to push Noel Murtagh into second place on countback.
A birdie two at the third hole helped Neil to a front nine score of 21 points, and that consistent scoring continued on the homeward trek with a thrilling climax to sign off on. Similarly 12-handicapper Murtagh recorded his own bridie at the fourth hole on the way to 22 points after nine, and he added a further 20 on the back - a bogey five at the final hole ultimately costing him the top prize.
Paddy Duffy was again recording 40-plus scores - he had 41, with birdies at the sixth, 12th and 18th holes - to win the 0-12 handicap category ahead of Sunday morning early bird Shay Brady on 40 points.
Brian 'Red' Wilson lambasted the day's slow play for his failure to win it outright, having chalked up 39 points before he stepped onto the 16th tee box. After a one-over par front-nine recording 24 points and steady scoring across the next six holes, he secured only a further two points from the remaining three holes for a 41 points finish - enough, however, to win the 13-18 handicap category ahead of Fergal McKinney on 40 points.
Basil Jolly was delighted with his return to the winners rostrum winning the 19-28 handicap category with 41 points and three points ahead of his nearest rival Paul McKeiown.

Kelly's a stableford hero
Philip Kelly's par at the final hole proved the difference between winning and taking runners up prize in the Saturday Club Stableford competition.
Benny Simpson had tracked Kelly all the way to a 43 points finish, but on coutback that par and a bogey for Benny proved the defining action.
Both players notched up an impressive 23 points on a drying front nine track, a birdie three at the par-four fourth hole the highlight of Kelly's start. And it continued neck-and-neck throughout the back nine with both adding a futher 20 points.
A similar countback was required to separate the 0-12 handicap category with both George Bradshaw and George Gillespie returning 41 points each. Bradshaw took the honours.
Brian Loney, a winner the previous week, continued his rich vein of winning form to produce a score of 40 points and claim first prize in the 13-18 handicap category where a very surprised Paul Corvan picked up second prize with 39 points.
And in the 19-28 handicap Category Jim Bagnall won the day with 42 points, Gareth Frizell runner up with 41 points from his round which included a birdie two at the 13th hole.

LEE HAS IT MASTERED!
INSIPRED by the sensational golf at the US Masters in Augusta, Lee Stewart produced an astonishing winning round to claim the Easter Stableford prize at County Armagh Golf Club.
The former Loughgall Golf Club player returned an unbelieveable 47 points, and on a week-end which saw some of the highest scoring of the season to date, it was two points clear of the rest of the field. The 13 handicapper was one-under par after nine holes which included birdies at the second, third and seventh holes to give him a platform of 25 points on which to build a winning score. He added a further bidire at the 12th hole on his way to a two-over par back nine finish with a further 22 points to add to his tally.
Tuesday Cup champion Gary Lappin was two points adrift but his 45 points was amazngly one of three returned on the day. His better back nine however, with birdies at the 12th and 13th hole,s pushed out both Paddy Duffy and Brian Loney.
With 'lift, clean and place' still being played and drying conditions throughout the two-day competition providing a good run on the ball, pundits were always predicting a winning score of 40-plus points. That it came on the most windier of the two days however, surprised many.
In the categories, Paddy Duffy's 45 points earned him first prize aomong the 0-12 handicappers - birdies at the first and eighth holes and 26 and 19 points scored respectively over front and back nines telling the tale of his round. Noel Murtagh deservedly picked up second prize in the same category with 43 points - 23 and 20 points and birdie two at the ninth the highlights.
Brian Loney produced the other 45 points for the competition to win the 13-18 handicap category, amassing 24 points and 21 points front and back nines with birdies at the sixth and 14th holes. Eric Hamilton was runner-up with 43 poiints birdie-ing the second and 15th holes to record scores for 24 points on the front nine and 20 on his return trek.
And in the 19-28 handicap category, Winston Gordon outshone all with 44 points, with Peter Murtagh two points behind on 43 and collecting the runners up prize.
John White produced an excellent 37 points gross and with a better back nine pipped Mark Loughran and the previous week's winner Conor McGurgan to the Best Gross prize.
All the Prizewinners are asked to attend Prize-giving on Saturday, 14th April at 6.30 pm (sharp).

Season first for Gary
Gary Lappin will be presented with the CP McNabb Trophy at County Armagh Golf Club later this month after winning the season's first major stableford competition.
Last year's Tuesday Cup winner clinched the coveted silverware with a superb 44 stableford points. The 17-handicapper was in sizzling form from the off and by the turn was just four over par, giving him a massive 23 points lead from his front nine which included a birdie two at the third hole. After a double bogey at the tenth hole, Gary used up just a further three shots of his handicap to add a further 21 points for a winning total 44.
In second place with 43 points Dudley Marjoram produced steady scoring front and back nine with 21 and 22points respectively earming him the runners up prize on countback.
Traditionally held over two-days, the CP McNabb Trophy once again attracted a huge field, and interestingly it was the Saturday players' who produced the better scores in conditions considerably more difficult than those on Sunday.
Jerome Leer led the category charge with 42 points winning the 0-12 handicaps - a level par front nine and one over back nine producing 21 poionts from each to pip Anthony Farrell on 41 points.
Francie Grimley won the 13-18 handicap categopry with 43 points - a superb front nine producing a masisive 25 points with a further 18 added after the second nine. And Michael McParland showed some of his winning form from the previous year with 42 points securing him second prize in the category.
Winston Gordon's recent good form also earned him first prize in the 19-28 handicap category with 23 and 20 points respectively amassing a winning 43 points, importantly one more than Jim Bagnall who scored 42 points.
The Best Gross score 35 points was won by Conor McGurgan who pipped both Jarlath McReynolds and Mark Loughran with a better back nine score.
