AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Fifty-six ladies played in the 18 hole PGA Tankard Stableford competition at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 16 June, which was very generously sponsored by Club Professional, Will Carey.  A further 12 ladies played in the 9 hole competition.

Welcoming a large number of ladies to prize-giving, Lady Captain, Karen Edgar extended sincere thanks to Will for his sponsorship of the competition and tendered his apologies.  

Emma Garrigan took first place with 40 pts, beating Sheila Stinson, also with 40 pts, into second place on countback.  One point further back, Patricia Hughes collected third prize with 39 pts.

Emma has qualified to represent Co Armagh Ladies’ Branch in the Ulster final of the PGA Tankard later in the year, playing alongside the male qualifier and the Club Professional.

The remaining prize winners were:

Cat A – Julie McCartan               36 pts

Cat B – Maggie Donnelly             37 pts

Cat C – Sheila Hughes                37 pts (btg Bernie McBride on c/b)

Cat D – Mary Martin                    36 pts (btg Sylvia Ashe on c/b)

Syliva Ashe won the Front 9 with 22 pts and Shernette Mullan won the Back 9 with 19 pts.

Katherine Steenson won the 9 hole competition with 19 pts and Tish Burke was second with 18 pts.

There were birdies for Gail Steed at the 1st, Paula McCrory at the 4th and Emma Garrigan at the 14th and twos for Ellen Brady at the 3rd and for Denise Murphy and Bernie McBride at the 7th.
