Hot Hughes is Woods Cup winner
Darren Hughes produced a superb gross score 73 to win the Woods Cup in the County Armagh Open Scratch competition.
The 6-9 handicap contest attracted quite a number of players, local and from futher afield. But none could touch the sizzling hot Hughes on the day.
A birdie three at the second hole saw the 7-handicapper on his way to a one-over par front nine - his only dropped shots at the fourth and eighth holes. And he continued that superb scoring over the back nine with two further birdies at the 12th and 15th holes for a two-over par 38 shot finish for the nine holes.
Darren's gross 73 winning total was two shots better than his nearest rival - young Mark Shannon producing two birdies, 10 pars, five bogeys and a double bogey for his gross 75 and the runners up prize.

John lifts the Webster Cup
John Lavery lifted the Webster Cup with a gross 77 score as County Armagh golfers returned to qualifying action.
Sponsor Ailish Keeley from Jim Keeley Motors, Armagh, presented the affable John with the coveted trophy after the Open competition on the city course.
In contrast to recent weeks when torrential rain showers restricted play and on a number of occasions forced closure of the course, conditions were somewhat favourable with a slight breeze drying the track.
John certainly made the most of it with an excellent front nine completed in 36 shots - including a 'two' at the 9th hole, leaving him just two over par. The par fives however, were proving difficult and either side of the par three 11th hole, John suffered two double bogeys on the 10th and 12th holes. He recovered well and by the finish had dropped only a further three shots for his gross 77 (nett 67) score.
Richard Black was just a shot adrift with a gross 78 securing him runners up prize. The 13- handicapper was five over at the turn but only dropped a further three shots on his back nine.
Danny McGee produced the best nett score on the day (nett 66).
