AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Forty-four ladies competed in the annual Daisy Ferguson Greensomes qualifier competition at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 6 April 2023.

Whilst the full 18 holes were open the competition was played over 12 hole, as was the case for those who had played on one of the alternate days.

Lady Captain Lily McMullan welcomed everyone to prize-giving extending a special welcome to fellow-golfer June Humphries. June was representing her son Alan from A Embroidery, who had very generously sponsored the competition.

Played over 12 holes, the results were:

1st – Michelle Kinane and Emma Garrigan     26 pts

2nd – Anne O’Reilly and Sheila Stinson           26 pts

3rd – Vera Ellingham and Brigid McEneaney 25 pts (beating Ellen Brady and Anne McDonald on countback)

Michelle and Emma will represent Co Armagh Golf Club at Royal County Down later in the year and will compete for the Daisy Ferguson Trophy, which was won in 2022 by Co Armagh’s pairing of Hilary Johnston and Sylvia Ashe.

A further nine ladies competed in the 9 hole competition, which was won by Karen Edgar with 15 points, beating Barbara Hamilton and Theresa Campbell on the countback.
