AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

The good weather continued for those playing in the September Medal competition at County Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 1 September, which was very generously sponsored by Anette Foster, Ol Flowers, Armagh.  Forty-eight ladies played 18 holes and a further fifteen played 9 holes.

Lady Captain Karen welcomed Anette Foster to prize-giving thanking her for her continued sponsorship.

This was the first competition playing the winter par 3 as the 2nd hole, due to the works to redesign the 18th hole and it caused some confusion in both recording scores and entering them onto the system.

The winner of the September Medal, with nett 68, beating Hilary Johnston on the countback into second place, was Lady Vice Captain Lily McMullan.  Paula McCrory won the gross with gross 80.  In third place was Lady Captain Karen Edgar with nett 69.

The category winners were:

Cat A    Bernie Rice                     nett 70

Cat B    Moya Brady                    nett 70 (beating Rene Calvert and Gemma Rice on countback)

Cat C    Jacqueline Kelly             nett 71

Cat D    Anne Attwell                   nett 70 (beating L Duffy on countback)

The front 9 was won by Bernie McBride with nett 29 and the back 9 by Geraldine Rafferty with nett 36.

The 9 hole competition was won by Margaret Oakes with 23 pts and Mary Knott was second with 21 pts.

All of the prizewinners were delighted with their floral prizes.

There were birdies for Gail Steed at the 1st and 18th, Paula McCrory at the 6th, Denise Murphy at the 7th, Colette McSorley at the 17h and Julie McCartan, Elizabeth Mawhinney and Bernie Rice at the 18th.  Bernie McBride recorded the only two at the 8th.
