AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Sixty three ladies played for the Captain’s Prize on Thursday 21 July 2022.  The weather was perfect and the course was in tip-top shape with lots of run on the ball, setting up the perfect conditions for the fabulous scores that were returned.

The winners of the 18 and 9 hole competitions were announced and both ladies collected their prize from the Captain at his Captain’s Day prize-giving on Saturday 23 July.

Joy Steenson won first place with a fantastic 47 pts, Shernette Mullan was second with 48 points and Anne Kinsella came third with a super 44 points, a score that would have been worthy of first place most days.

Cat A    LVC Lily McMullan          38 pts

Cat B    Elizabeth Mawhinney     42 pts

Cat C    Anne O’Reilly                 42 pts

Cat D    Breda Naughton             39 pts

Helen McLaughlin won the Front 9 with 24 pts and Denise Murphy won the Back 9 with 22 pts.

A further thirteen ladies entered the 9 hole competition which was won by Theresa Campbell with a fabulous 27 points.  Meanwhile, Lynda Coyle made her first appearance in the winning enclosure, coming second with 19 pts, beating Tish Burke on the countback.

There were birdies recorded by Caitlin McKinney at the 1st and 14th, Siobhan Donnelly at the 6th, Frances Davidson and Ellen Brady at the 8th, LVC Lily McMullan at the 8th and 10th, Aoife Lennon at the 10th and Anne O’Reilly at the 15th.

Anne O’Reilly had a 2 at the 7th and Flo McCall, Maggie McKee and Elizabeth Mawhinney all recorded 2s at the 11th.
