AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

The Fox Cup and Culmore Shield Competitions took place on Thursday 30 July at Co Armagh Golf Club. The Fox Cup is competed for by golfers in the 0-27 handicap range meanwhile those with a handicap of 28 or greater played for the Culmore Shield.

Fifty-five ladies played in the 18-hole competition with a Competition Standard Scratch of 70.

Ellen Brady was the winner of The Fox Cup with a fabulous 40 pts, which included an eagle at the 10th. Michelle Kinane, with 39 pts, was second one ahead of Pauline Gingles whose 38 pts secured third place.

The front nine was won by Eileen Fitzsimons with 19 pts and Mary Black won the back nine with 21 pts.

The Culmore Shield was won by Bernie McBride with 36 pts, beating Lena Duffy’s 36 pts on the countback. Carmel Cassidy took third place with 32 pts beating Sheila Stinson on the countback.

The front nine was won by Sheila Stinson with 18 pts and the back nine by Helen McLaughlin with 17 pts.

Fifteen ladies competed in the 9-hole competition which was won by Bernie Harvey with 17 pts. Gina Morris was second with 15 pts.

There were birdies for Mary Black at the 1st, Colette McSorley at the 10th, Lily McMullan at the 15th and Paula McCrory at the 16th and only one two recorded by Fionnuala Quinn at the 7th.

The weekly Time for Nine competition was won by Lynne Brown.

The handicap cuts were Ellen Brady 8-7.1; Pauline Gingles 23-22.2 and Michelle Kinane 20-19.3.
