AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

On Thursday 6 th April the ladies branch of County Armagh Golf Club launched its “Get into Golf” initiative. Designed to introduce newcomers to the delights of the game, the initiative is supported by each of the national unions. Fifteen ladies attended the opening night of the initiative and were treated to a putting coaching session under the expert guidance of the Mr Alan Rankin, who recently retired as club professional.

Lady Captain Gail Steed welcomed the ladies and assured them that, apart from the health benefits which will accrue for those who take up the sport, a vibrant social programme in the club will allow participants to meet and forge new friendships.

The next date for the Get into Golf ladies will be Thursday 27 th April, when new club professional Mr. Will Carey will be handling the tuition.

Later that evening the clubhouse was packed for the first Medal competition of the year which was very generously sponsored by Robb Wines.

The recent fine weather had allowed the greens staff to carry out maintenance work on the course. The visible improvement in the condition of the greens resulted in some excellent scoring., A full list of prize winners is set out below but the winner of the April Medal with an outstanding score of nett 68 was Eileen Fitzsimons. A delighted Eileen graciously accepted her first prize- a magnum of prosecco from Mr William Robb, thanking him for the generous sponsorship which Robb Wines has kindly provided for the ladies' branch.
