AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Fifty-four ladies took part in the 18 hole Peggy Nelson Stableford competition on Thursday 13th of April in sunny conditions. 

Hilary Johnston, Barbara Hamilton and Anne O’Reilly won their respective categories and will represent the club in the finals of the competition which will be held on 17th July in Dunmurray Golf Club.  The Lady Captain, Gail thanked the sponsors, Gamble and Creswell Opticians of Russell Street, for their continued generous support.  

Mr Ronnie Gamble and his wife Ina have had a long association with the club, holding the unique honour of being joint Men’s and Ladies’ Captains in 1969.  Since then both have been active members of the club and generous sponsors of competitions. All present commended Gail’s wish that both Ronnie and Ina are soon able to re-join their friends in the clubhouse. 

The results were as follows:- 

Section A:- 1st place Hilary Johnston 36 points 2nd place Ellen Brady 35 points. 3rd place June Humphries 35 points. 
Section B:- 1st place Barbara Hamilton 39 points,  2nd place Eileen Fitzsimons 35 points, 3rd place Denise Murphy 35 points. 
Section C:- 1st place Anne O’Reilly 35 points, 2nd place Sylvia Ashe 34 points, 3rd place Teresa Corrigan 33 points beating Fionnuala Quinn on a better back nine, 
Grace McGowan was the winner of the 9 hole competition with 20 points. 

The draw for the very popular Charlemont Cup was conducted by the Lady Captain and Mrs Greta Foster of the Charlemont Arms hotel.
