THE Club Championship may have been the big event at County Armagh last week-end, but Dudley Marjoram managed to shine the spotlight on those who unfortunately never made the cut.
In the club stroke competition run alongside the championship, Dudley produced a superb nett 64 to take the honours. On the day only Anthony Conlon bettered his score with a nett 62 to become the new Club Champion.
19-handicapper Dudley's nett 64 was one shot better than Gavin Leer who suffered a double-bogey and triple bogey at the 5 th and 6 th holes yet still returned a nett 65.
Joe Rhodie returned the same nett 65 score but was beaten on count back and Jonathan Beale whose round for a nett 66 included an eagle at the par five 8 th hole and birdies at the 10 th , 13 th , and 18 th holes.
Michael McGuirk continued his run of winning form to take fifth prize with a nett 66 – a score John McKinney also returned but was beaten on countback.

CLUB Secretary Paddy Burns savoured success in the latest County Armagh Sunday stableford competition.
His 41 points was the best of the day, secured with an impressive 22 points on the front nine holes and a further 19 on the back nine.
Darryl Lawson chased him all the way to finish with 40 points with a ‘no-score' at the 5 th hole to claim the runner's up prize.
Shea Brady returned the same 40points to take the honours in Category 1, with Andrew Miller on 39 points runner up with birdies at the first and 14 th holes highlighting his round.
Johnny Palmer picked up yet another prize, this time winning Category 2 with 39 points which could so easily have been a winning score but for a ‘ding' at the 18 th .
Neil Monaghan was runner up.
And in Category 3 it was Hugh McEneaney who led home the charge with 40 points, Eric Villiers his runner up with 38 points.

TERRY Chin's 42 stableford points won the latest Tuesday Qualifier at County Armagh.
Fresh from a week-end long celebration with old comrades on the mainland, Terry was two points better than all the rest, and could even afford a ‘no-score' at the 7 th hole.
Michael McGurk wasn't so lucky, his ‘no-score' at the 6 th hole cost him, but his 40 points still earned him runners up.
Paul McCreesh had the same 40 points score but was beaten on countback – again a ‘no score', this time at the 16 th , proving costly.
Paul Doyle ‘dinged' the 18 th hole but, with 37 points, was still the best in the Over 50s category.

AFFABLE Anthony Conlon clinched the County Armagh Golf Club Championship title, winning by an impressive margin of three clear shots.
A superb nett 62 in the final round of the two-day competition was the outstanding score. And coupled with a nett 69 achieved the previous weekend, the 12-handicapper was deservingly declared the Club Champion 2014.
A fourth place finish in July's Motor Electric Open stroke competition qualified the easy-going Anthony among the top 50 for the Club Championship. And his nett 64 in that competition was indeed clear evidence he could be a leading contender come the 2-day championship.
