MICHAEL McGuirk lifted County Armagh's Allen Cup with a two-shot victory in the annual stroke competition, kindly sponsored by JR McMahon, Scotch Street, Armagh.

The 12-handicapper returned a nett 64 to win the coveted silverware.

Three over par after nine holes, Michael produced a similar three over par back nine to claim the victory ahead of Gary McCourt on nett 66. Nine-handicapper Gary may have believed he deserved better after carding birdies at the 1 st , 6 th , 11 th and 12 th holes, but on this occasion he had to settle for the runner's up prize.

In Category 1, Michael Curley produced the best score of the day – a nett 67 with Mark Shannon runner up with a nett 68.

Gerard Kelly won Category 2 with a nett 68, two shots ahead of the next best, Ciaran Black on nett 70.

And in Category 3 Nicky Currie was back among the prizes with a nett 71 and better back nine winning it ahead of JP Hughes, also returning a nett 71.

Andrew Millar's run of Gross runner's up prizes has finally come to an end – his gross 71 earned him Best Gross in this Allen Cup competition!
