AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Having been impressed with the return of the Captain’s Log by Gerry and Lilly I think its an excellent tradition to keep going as a form of communication to all our members on a periodic basis.

Firstly I’d like to mention the support I have been given thus far from council and members alike, has been quite the humbling experience and I cannot thank all enough for their gifts, cards, messages of support and advice.

With every convenor role now filled on council, along with each of their committees and the 2 posts which have been vacant for quite a while also filled, Public Relations Officer who is Past Captain Gerry Kelly with his knowledge of posting on:

Our Club Website, https://www.golfarmagh.co.uk

Our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/countyarmaghgolfclub/

and also the club Twitter page created by Gerry himself https://twitter.com/ArmaghCo

Also the post of Juvenile Convenor which has been kindly accepted by Conal O hAdhmaill whom I have been working with in an advisory capacity along with our club Professional Will to try and establish a sustainable way forward to promote the game for the younger members of the club, this a very important part of our club and its future and close to my heart given my connections from a young boy being able to avail of such opportunities it has provided me with

Our first council meeting now having taken place at the end of January which proved extremely productive with issues arising such as the need to address our club constitution and Governance. To get this right first and then move towards the One Club Model completion, with changes that best suit our needs at County Armagh Golf Club. Massive steps have already been taken to ensure our promise and commitment to reach that final stage of the process. With the experience we have within our council I've no doubt this will be achieved.

On the golfing front all Team captains' rolls have now been filled and I have built a Teams Captains generic package to cater for all new rules etc. both All Ireland and Cowdy. A meeting with Team Captains will take place before the end of February with a presentation of packs to each to help give support to each, this giving them extra time to concentrate on the important issue of their Team choices.

Now in the last week of the Winter League a shout out to all the brave and hearty souls who have taken part over the last number of weeks in the difficult conditions. A massive well done. Testimony to Nathan Grimley our Competition and handicap convenor with his exciting new ideas and formats to keep all interested both on an individual and team basis.

That's all at the moment and with a small stretch in the evenings on its way it gives us a boost to look forward to better weather and moving shortly into the proper golfing season.

Your Captain

Neil
