A large number of ladies played in windy dry conditions in Armagh on Thursday last. This competition was very generously sponsored by 'OL Flowers' Thomas St Armagh. The proprietor Annette Foster presented the beautiful flowers to the various winners at a well attended function in the clubhouse.
The top lady on the day was vice captain Hillary Johnston with a great score of 67 which resulted in a 1 shot cut off her handicap. Second and third were separated on the count back with a score of 68. K Loye claimed the runner up spot with the help of a hole in one on the long par three 13th hole, while N Spence was 3rd. The Gross prize was collected by P McCrory. The category prizes were as follows A :B Rice, B :P Gingles, C :F Toner, D :S Steenson. The Par lady on the day was E Steenson while B McEnaney won the 9 hole competion.

107 Ladies played for the prestigious Armaghdale Cup very generously sponsored by Gerard Davidson Business Accounts Services, Abbey Street, Armagh, who are in their 6th year of sponsorship. The ladies branch appreciate this commitment from the sponsor and the beautiful array of prizes by local artist Olive Duffy.
There were a number of visitors playing from as far away as Tullamore, Mullingar, Laytown and Bettystown, Warrenpoint and Portnoo.
The winner was local lass Catherine Corrigan with a great score of 69 nett. Conditions were dry but difficult with a very strong wind blowing. Runner up was R Thornton from Warrenpoint on 70 with our Lady Captain P Mc Crory lifting the gross with a 72. Third and fourth places were separated on the countback with F Quinn and S Donnelly respectively picking up the prizes. C McAleavey was 5th with a 72.
The Category winners were as follows. A : B Rice, B : M Black C : A McElroy : D : M Watts.
The front 9 was won by A Cannavan, while T Corrigan won the back 9. The winning visitor was O Fox playing out of Portnoo. Nearest the pin was K Loye on the 7th, and L Mc Mullan was closest on the 11th hole. The long drive champion was big hitting N Spence with a mighty drive on the 17th past the fairy tree.
A packed clubhouse saw Frances Davidson present the beautiful prizes to the various winners.

The Challenge cup team from Armagh lifted the Challenge Cup trophy for the first time in the history of the club. This competition is played among players with a handicap between 30 and 36.
The Armagh ladies had a runaway victory over Fortwilliam in the Ulster final which was played at the neutral venue of Lisburn Golf Club. The team consists of 5 players with 3 super subs. All 5 players won their matches on the day. There were great scenes of celebration at the end when the trophy was presented by Patricia Jordan, President of the Ulster branch of the I L G U, to a very proud captain Eilish Grimes. Paula Mc Crory, Armagh Lady Captain was the proudest person in Lisburn that day and has been smiling ever since this great victory.
The panel of players are as follows. Eilish Grimes, Kathleen Mallon, Sylvia Ashe, Bernie Gribben, Nicola Spence, Kay Molloy, Brigid Mc Eneaney, and Ann Murphy. This is a very strong panel and will take some beating as they are very experienced golfers.
The team have qualified for the All Ireland finals and travel to Courttown in Co Wexford to take on the might of Connaught on 27th Sept. All matches will be played that weekend with the All Ireland Final on the 29th.
We wish the team all the best for the finals and no doubt the hard work begins now. Well done ladies on your magnificent achievement and representing the Club with such distinction.

The Thursday competition was very generously sponsored by Edgewater Finance and 70 ladies took part.
The very popular winner was Gail Steed with 39 points, closely followed by Una Cullinane with Patricia Hughes claiming 3rd spot. The front nine was won by E Mawhinney and K Edgar won the back nine. The category winners were as follows. A - E Brady, B - C Hillen, C - M Marjoram, D - K Mallon.
9 hole competition was won by M Pender and C McAnerney was the par lady.

A large number of ladies played in very wet underfoot conditions at County Armagh golf club on Thursday last. The stroke compettion was very kindly sponsored by Hairlines Hairdressers Dobbin Street Armagh. Top lady on the day was Carolyn Mc Call who had a terrific nett score of 65. As a result of this score Carolyn had a handicap cut of 2 shots. Ellen Brady and Mary Black were seperated on the countback for 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
K Mallon won the front 9 while P Gingles won the back 9. The catagory prizes were as follows. A: A. Cannavan B: F Mc Call. C: C Cassidy. D: N Spence. The par lady was Toni Mc Manus while B Mc Enaney won the 9 hole compettion.

A large turnout of ladies took part in the in the Ian Donaldson Cup which was very generously sponsored by The 19th Hole Restaurant at County Armagh Golf Club.
The competition was played in blustery conditions, nevertheless 71 ladies took part. The overall winner of the competition was our lady captain Paula McCrory with 38 points. Second and third place were separated on the count back with Una Cullinanne securing second place and Carina Oliver in third. The front nine was won by Anne Murphy and Siobhan Donnelly picked up the prize on the back nine.
The category winners were as follows- A: C McCall, B: D Murphy, C: N Donnelly, D: M McCoy. The par lady prize was won by Marie Corrigan.
Kate Sheeran, proprietor of the 19th Hole Restaurant at the Golf Club presented the prizes to a packed clubhouse.

72 County Armagh Ladies played for the prestigious Ellie Mayne cup in glorious sunshine last Thursday.
This competition was very generously sponsored by Johnstons Home Bakery Scotch St Armagh.
Jacqueline Kelly came out on top with a fantastic score of 43 stableford points, which resulted in a significant cut to her handicap.Second place was collected by our lady captain Paula Mc Crory closely followed by Lorraine Abbott. The category winners were as follows A: Aideen Cannavan B: Denise Murphy. C: Fionnuala Quinn D: Joan Lappin The front 9 was won by Anne Mc Donald while Marie Digby picked up the back 9. The gross winner was June Humphries while the par lady was Eileen Fitzsimons. Hilary Johnston presented the prizes to a packed clubhouse.

Seventy two Co. Armagh lady golfers played in glorious sunshine on Thursday 2nd August. The competition was very generously sponsored by FAB Beauty Consultants of Scotch Street, Armagh.
Lady Captain Paula McCrory presented the many prizes on behalf on the proprietor Eimear McKenna. The winner and runner up were sepatated on the countback each scoring a fabulous 43 points. Aideed Canavan was the winner with Carina Oliver picking up second prize. In third place was P. Gingles (37 pts), B. Rice was fourth with 37 points and F. Toner came fifth also with 35 points. J. Humphries won the gross prize. Front nine winner was A. McDonald amd K. Edgar picked up the back nine prize. Category winners were as follows: A: C. McCall (32pts), B: U. Cullinane(34 pts), C: P. Hughes(35 pts) and D: J. Kelly (34 pts). A. M. Canavan from Banbridge was the winning visitor. Nearest the pin was won by V. Gordon and E. Brady had the longest drive.

Frances in Front
A large turnout of lady golfers competed for the beautiful array of prizes on a sunny but showery day at County Armagh Lady Captain's Day on Saturday 28th July. The day commenced with the Lady Captain Paula McCrory welcoming her family and many guests to a very busy and enjoyable morning coffee. The hard working Ladies' Committee left no stone unturned to ensure the success of this event. As the ladies ventured out to play the sun shone on a well manicured course. Later a few showers dampened the fairways but not the enthusiasm of the lady golfers. Frances Davidson emerged as the winner with a nett 67. Elizabeth Mawhinney followed closely behind (nett 69). The gross prize was picked up by Teresa McVeigh (81). Front 9 winner was Joy Steenson and Sheila Stinson won the back 9. Category prizewinners were as follows: A: B. Rice, B: U. Cullinane, C: A. Murphy and D: J. Lappin. R. Grimley won the committee prize while B. Loughran won the Past Lady Captain's prize. T. McManus won the putting competition. D. Maxwell was the recipient of the men's prize. F. Cullen won the Juvenile Girls' prize with G. Carmichael in second position. C. Calvert came first in the Juvenile Boys' category with S. Reilly runner up. The presentation of prizes took place after a beautiful meal in a packed clubhouse when Lady Captain again made family and friends very welcome. H. McLaughlin proposed the vote of thanks to the Lady Captain and S. McRory seconded it. The celebrations concluded with music and dancing which continued until the wee small hours.
