AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

The Fox Cup and Culmore Shield stroke competitions took place at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 11 May. It was the fourth consecutive weekly stroke-play competition and the first qualifying competition of the year and the continuing difficulty of the course was once again reflected in the results.

Lady Captain Lily McMullan presented the prizes on behalf of sponsor, Orchard Vets.

Fox Cup

The Fox Cup, for those with a playing handicap in the 0-27 range, was won by Michelle Kinane with nett 68. Second, with nett 71, was Emma Garrigan and Fionnuala Quinn was third, with nett 74, beating Gillian Poole on the better back 9.

The Culmore Shield

Those with a playing handicap of 28 or greater played for the Culmore Shield, which was won by Sheila Stinson with nett 78. Sheila Hughes took second place with nett 79 and Anne McDonald was third with nett 84.

The front 9 was won by Gillian Poole with nett 32 and the back 9 by Helen Forster with nett 38.

9 Hole Competition

The 9 hole competition which was won by Gladys Villiers with 15 pts.

There were birdies for Emma Garrigan and Michelle Kinane at the 1st and Paula McCrory at the 10th. Gemma Rice and Aoife Lennon both recorded twos at the temporary 2nd.
