AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Following the easing of lockdown restrictions, competitive golf made a welcome return for the Ladies of Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 11 June.    The return to golf had been eagerly awaited with a total of 97 ladies playing.  Whilst not all were eligible to enter the competition, fifty-three ladies played in the 18 hole competition and a further 15 in the 9 hole competition.

The competition standard scratch was 71.

In the 18 hole competition Francis Davidson claimed first place with an incredible 44 pts, 2 pts clear of Aimee Brennan’s equally impressive 42 pts.  Phil Rice was third with 38 pts.

The remaining prize winners were:

Cat A – Bernie Rice                   36 pts

Cat B – Gail Steed                    37 pts

Cat C – Lynne Brown                 33 pts

Cat D – Joy Steenson                34 pts

Jill McKenna won the Front 9 with 21 pts and Breda Nugent won the Back 9 with 20 pts.

There were birdies for Emma Garrigan at the 1st and 8th, Bernie Rice at the 5th and Geraldine Rafferty at the 12th.  Hilary Johnston and Michelle Kinane recorded 2s at the 7th and 11th respectively.

The handicap cuts were Aimee Brennan 31 to 28.1, Francis Davidson 20 to 17.1 and Phil Rice 23 to 22.

The 9 hole competition was won by Rita Grimley with 17 pts and Tish Burke was second with 16 pts.

Obviously with the club house remaining closed there could be no weekly prize-giving.  Accounts were credited in the Pro Shop.
