AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Co Armagh Ladies’ Junior Cup Team played Enniscorthy in the semi-final of the ILGU AIG Insurance Inter-Club National Final in Knightsbrook, Co Meath on Friday 27 September.

After over a 2½ hour suspension, due to heavy rain, play eventually got under way at 12:13. The team of Paula McCrory, Alexandra Mawhinney, Theresa McVeigh and Julie McCartan were led out by playing Captain Lily McMullan and cheered on by strong travelling support.

Thru 6 holes Co Armagh was either up or all square in all 5 matches. By the 10th hole 2 matches were 1 down and the other 3 matches all square. However, in the back 9 things changed in Enniscorthy’s favour and unfortunately, despite their best efforts Co Armagh was defeated 3.5 – 1.5. The standard of golf was extremely high and all of the matches incredibly tight, with the first three matches making it to the 18th hole.

Lily and her team should be very proud - making it to the National Final is an achievement in itself and they are reigning Ulster Champions.
