The warm sunny conditions which have prevailed during recent weeks held for the 46 ladies who competed for the July Medal. Lady Captain Elizabeth was delighted with the large number of ladies who competed and attended prize giving despite it being holiday time and a stroke competition.
Elizabeth welcomed Mrs Flo McCall in her capacity as representative of the Southern Area Hospice to receive a cheque for £1,905. Flo expressed her delight and appreciation of the amazing amount of money raised by Elizabeth on her recent Lady Captain's day. She explained that the Newry hospice which first opened in 1989 provides vital services to over one thousand families and that this could not be done without the support of local communities and their fund-raising activities.

The course was in superb condition, with fast running greens making scoring difficult. However, the very much in form Emma Garrigan found no such difficulty however, returning an excellent nett 65 to win by 4 shots from Siobhan Donnelly, in second place.

Francis Davidson took third place honours with a nett 70 while Paula McCrory took another Gross prize with 81 strokes.

The only two of the day was returned by Francis Davidson @11 th .
Birdies were recorded by Colette McSorley @ 18 th , Colette McAleavey @ 6 th and Siobhan @ 17 th .

This week's winner with 22 points Sarah George and in second place Paula McCrory with 17 points.
Emma graciously accepted the first-place prize for her exceptional score from Lady Captain Elizabeth and her playing partner Pauline Gingles.
Lady Captain Elizabeth congratulated all prize-winners and then updated those present on the news from team competitions.
She reported that the Senior Foursomes have played the first leg against Lurgan. She wished Ellen Brady and her Revive Active team good fortune at home and away against Cavan, Kathleen Mallon and her Minor Team success at home against Dungannon and Sheila Stinson and her Challenge Cup team success away against Donaghadee.
To conclude the evening Elizabeth pointed out that there were a few slots still available to the Margaret Dean Mixed Foursomes scheduled for Friday 20 th and that the online booking for Ladies Open Week is now active. The Lady Captain encouraged members to join her on an outing to Warrenpoint which is scheduled for 27 th August.
