AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

The past lady captains of County Armagh Golf Club got together a few months ago to organise a club classic for the ladies branch. A lot of hard work went into the organising of this event and it was decided to have a four ball classic with two scores counting on all holes except the 6 th the 12 th and the 18 th when three scores would count. Just to make it more interesting each team was asked to play a yellow ball and there was a prize for the team with the best score for the yellow ball.

Over 70 ladies played for the fantastic array of prizes which were sourced by the following people including current club members. Raymond Donnelly from Donnelly Motors got a fourball in Concra Wood. Ann Conlon got a fourball in Rossapenna. The Slieve Russell fourball was secured by Ann Mone and Hilary Johnston got a fourball from The Heritage and Kilkeel. On behalf of the ladies branch I would like to thank the above people for their willingness to help out.

The following prize winners will be going to play on these wonderful courses. The top team on the day with 73 points was Hilary Johnston, Moya Brady, Anne McDonald and Carmel Cassidy who go to Kilkeel. Runner up with 70 points was Paula McCrory, Fionnuala Quinn, Lorraine Megaw and Rea Haughey who go to the Heritage. Third place was Barbara Gartland's team of Teresa McVeigh, Valerie Gordon, Sheila Hughes and Toni McManus with 69 who are off to the Slieve Russell. Fourth place was the team captained by Flo McCall, Joy Steenson, Lilly McMullan and Gillian Poole who are playing in Concra Wood. The Yellow ball competition was collected by June Humpheries team with Ellen Brady Mary Black and Gail Steed and they are off to the North West to play Rossapenna.

In a packed clubhouse on Wednesday night one of the past Lady Captains Sadie Scott, who was captain in 1976, was asked to present the prizes to the various winners. Sadie received a very warm reception from the ladies and presented the prizes to the winners.
