County Armagh Golf Club President, Gerry McCreesh, recently presented a cheque for £820 to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI). The money was raised on President’s Day on 27 July, when Gerry welcomed guests, golfers, family and friends to the city club.
“I was bowled over by the amount raised,” said Gerry. “Air Ambulance is an incredible charity providing a vital and potentially life-saving service. I am delighted to present them with this donation from all who attended on President’s Day.”
Air Ambulance is a local charity that provides the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for Northern Ireland, together with their partners at the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS).
The service brings urgent medical assistance to anywhere in the province, operating 12 hours a day and seven days. It can get to anywhere in Northern Ireland in less than 25 minutes.
This doctor/paramedic-led service benefits those whose lives are at serious risk following significant injury or trauma. Effectively, the service brings emergency hospital care direct to the casualty.
On collecting the cheque from Gerry and his wife, Maura, Colleen Milligan, area fundraising manager from Air Ambulance, said: “Air Ambulance NI relies heavily on the generosity of the community to help sustain the service.
“We would like to say a massive thank you and congratulations to County Armagh Golf Club President, Gerry McCreesh, for selecting Air Ambulance as his chosen charity and raising the fabulous amount of £820. Thanks also to the club members and Gerry’s family and friends for donating on the day.
“We very much appreciate all that they have done to raise both our profile and awareness of our work, and for these much needed funds for Air Ambulance NI charity.”
