AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Steve Donaghy had a round to remember on his way to victory in the Bankers Cup sponsored by Irwin’s Quality Aggregates on Sunday. The 10 handicapper signed for a gross 70 (nett 60) to win by four and that’s after starting with a double-bogey six.

Putting that aberration aside he followed up with birdies at the fifth, eighth and 12th and even a bogey at the 16th failed to knock him off course. Dean Chambers claimed second with nett 64 edging out Christopher Crowe on countback.

Dessie Gordon signed for a nett 65 and claimed fourth on countback ahead of Kevin Slevin and Brian Loney. Michael Brunsdon claimed seventh with a nett 66.

Martin Gill’s round of 70 earned him the gross prize while Sean Bailie won the green marker prize with 32pts.
