As our last remaining hope on the men's inter-club matchplay scene of 2019, the Senior Cowdy Cup crew will soon carry the CAGC torch into the tournament's semi-finals.
A last-four meeting with near neighbours Portadown, which is to be completed by the end of August, was brought about by a resounding third-round rout of Banbridge.

In the first leg on their own patch on 8 July, CAGC turned on the style in constructing a dominant 17.5 to 2.5 halfway lead. And that proved an unassailable deficit for Banbridge to overcome, as the return fixture in County Down three weeks later saw John Maguire and Shea Smyth quickly post the three points required to put matters to bed.
Skipper Gary McCourt's victorious quarter-final line-up featured Shea Brady, Sam Jenkins, John Maguire, Dermot McCaffrey, Jarlath McReynolds, Shea Smyth and Jimmy Wilson. Their fine collective performance is even more impressive when considered in the context of the mid-match pack-shuffling necessitated by holiday commitments and the happy arrival of Dermot's new baby daughter.
Congratulations to Dermot and his wife on the safe arrival from all at CAGC, and good luck to him and his Cowdy colleagues in their upcoming clash against Portadown, when a place in the final against either Mourne or Castleblayney will be at stake. Hopefully, there will be more good news to report then.
