AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

WHILE others were still enjoying a week-end sleep-in, early-bird Colm McElroy was racking up a winning score in County Armagh's Sunday stableford.

His 41 points won the competition, albeit on countback from Barry McGurgan (10).

Four opening pars got 16-handicapper Colm off to a blazing start on his way to 21 points by the turn. And he added a further 20 points on the return trek to claim the top prize.

Barry too produced some consistent scoring with 21 and 20 points respectively front and back nine holes – only losing out to Colm on countback.

Kyle Wilson was the next best with 40 points – a no-score at the 17the hole almost certainly denying him first prize. But he deservedly picked up the Category 1 first prize with Caolan Doyle runner up on 38 points.

Brendan Beagan, a category winner the previous week in the May Medal, went one better this week winning Category 2 with 38 points, on countback from Gareth Reilly.

And in Category 3 it was Eric Villiers who topped the pile with 35 points, winning also on countback from Kieran Beagan who returned 35 points also.

Shea Smyth's 37 points was the Best Gross score on the day.
