THERE'S a fast-rising new sports star in the Campbell family home at Edenvale in Armagh.
While elder brother Shea peddles his talents in soccer, master Lee Campbell is making a name for himself in golf.
At least that's the case at County Armagh Golf Club where recently teenager Lee – the Club's Juvenile Captain – has been featuring regularly in the prizes – his latest being the A&N Shilliday sponsored Club Stableford.
County Armagh Golf Club Captain Martin Oliver presents Lee Campbell with his prize after winning the A&N Shilliday sponsored stableford competition. Included also is runner up John Lavery and Sunday stableford competition prize winners Brendan Beagan and Barry McGurgan.
In fact since the beginning of the season Lee has won the April Medal and been runner up in both the Bankers Cup and Bumble Bee Cup.
Playing off a new handicap of 8, Lee secured victory in the A&N Shilliday stableford competition with a superb 41 points – 20 from a very steady front nine holes and a further 21 points from the back nine which included a birdie 2 at the 11 th hole.
John Lavery (10) came closest to catching him, with 40 points – 19 secured from the front nine holes where a double bogey seven at the 8 th hole saw him score only one point, and 21 on the back nine which also included a birdie 2 at the 11 th hole.
Master Joe Rooney (8), who featured in last week's prize list, won Category 1 with 40 points, winning on countback from Paddy Digby (6) who also returned 40 points.
Ciaran Moore (14) won Category 2 with 40 points – an excellent 23 points pencilled in from the front nine, but unfortunately only 17 from the back nine. However, it was still two points better than runner up Paddy Loughran who returned 38 points.
In Category 3 Jason Rolston was the outright winner with 38 points – again two points better than runner up Peter McParland on 36 points.
Jarlath McReynolds' 39 points was the Best Gross score on the day.
