AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

MICHAEL Smyth had to dig deep for victory in County Armagh's PGA Tankard competition, sponsored this year by Armagh Potato Company Ltd.

But such was the quality of his harvest – 42 stableford points - the next best in the field was a furrow away – 40 points returned by Stephen Miller.

Consistent scoring throughout saw 20-handicapper Michael produce the winning score – 21 points recorded on each of the front and back nine holes.

Stephen Miller is presented with his prize by PGA Tankard competitions sponsor Charlie Johnston from Armagh Potato Company Ltd and County Armagh Golf Club Captain Martin Oliver.

Painter-man Miller (18) returned 18 and 22points for his 40 points total.

In Category 1 meanwhile, Neil Cromwell (2) topped the pile with 38 points – recording birdies at the 8 th , 12 th and 13 th holes on his way to a level par round.

Ian Beaddie was a point behind on 37 for the runners up prize – a no score at the par 3 third hole harshly punishing him.

In Category 2, Ciaran Black (14) returned 40 points to take first prize – his better back nine winning ahead of runner up William Knipe (16) who failed to score at the 10 th hole.

And Turlough Brady collected first prize in Category 3 coming home with 34 points with Kieran Beagan runner up with 33 points.
