AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

MICHAEL McGurk got his season off to a winning start in the charity Chest, Heart and Stroke competition at County Armagh.

After claiming fourth prize in the Spring League, Michael grabbed the top prize with the best score - 41 points - in the annual two-day stableford event.

He shared top score with S McGarvey (41pts), but Michael's impressive back- nine earned him the plaudits.

Handicap Convenor Brian McGuigan will do doubt have drawn teasing comments from playing partners after returning 41 points also. But he will have surely dismissed them all by explaining, it may have been the top score on the day, but it wasn't enough to win it! Brian did however, collect first prize in Category 1 where Adam Hunniford was runner up with 40 points.

Iggy Mallon won Category 2 with 40 points – his better back nine pipping Brendan Beagan to the prize.

And in Category 3 it was Shane O'Halleron's 40 points and better back which won the prize and denied in-form Norman Mallon who also recorded 40 points.
