AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

CAPTAIN Pat McAleavey said a big thank you to the many sponsors of County Armagh Golf Club at a special competition and hospitality event at the city club.

Speaking at the Sponsors Day, which was kindly sponsored by Rollins Insurance Brokers, Pat paid tribute to a long list of local businesses who have supported the club during the year. "We are very privileged to enjoy the magnificent support of the local business community. They have provided sponsorship for so many of our competitions, mens and ladies, throughout the year and it is only fitting that we say a big thank you to them all."

Digby's Killylea bar owner Michael Macklin, representing Holmes and Doran in the Sponsors Day competition, celebrated victory after returning an impressive 42 stableford points. Sean Dougan from Philip White Tyres, drove a very close second with 40 points while Pearse McBride, representing Fairlawns Nursing Home, rested in third prize with 38points and Fergal McKinney from McKinney Timber nailed 4th prize with 37points.

Lady sponsors were equally represented in the competition which was played in ideal conditions. And it was the club's website company NetStretch.com which dominated the prizes, Rita Grimley winning with 36 points and Mary Knott clinching 4th prize with 34 points.

Nicola Spence from Lila's was runner up with Hilary Johnston from Johnston's Bakery in third.

Michael Nugent from Professional Travel Armagh won the Longest Drive and Tim Taylor representing Irwin Aggregates won the Nearest the Pin Prize.

Stepping off the 18th green at the County Armagh Golf Club Sponsors Day are Alistair Harrison and Tim Taylor from Irwin Aggregates, with Club Council member Roy Turner.
