Quiet man Stuart celebrates mid-week victory

THE quiet man who is Stuart Lee picked up first prize in the Tuesday Qualifier at County Armagh after signing for 44 points in the new mid-week stableford competition.

Four-handicapper Stuart sank three birdies on his way to a hugely impressive 23 points over the front nine, and with two more on his homeward trek his massive 44 points was always going to be hard to beat.

Patsy Hegarty got within one point of catching him returning 43 points to collect the runner’s up prize.

Paddy Hicks was 3 points further adrift on 40 but deservedly collected third prize, his better back nine beating Gerry McCreesh and Paul McCreesh into fourth and fifth places respectively after both also signed for 40 points.

Eric Hamilton collected the Seniors Prize with 39 points and the Best Gross Score on the day was produced by James Johnston on 31 points.
