Frances in Front

A large turnout of lady golfers competed for the beautiful array of prizes on a sunny but showery day at County Armagh Lady Captain's Day on Saturday 28th July. The day commenced with the Lady Captain Paula McCrory welcoming her family and many guests to a very busy and enjoyable morning coffee. The hard working Ladies' Committee left no stone unturned to ensure the success of this event. As the ladies ventured out to play the sun shone on a well manicured course. Later a few showers dampened the fairways but not the enthusiasm of the lady golfers. Frances Davidson emerged as the winner with a nett 67. Elizabeth Mawhinney followed closely behind (nett 69). The gross prize was picked up by Teresa McVeigh (81). Front 9 winner was Joy Steenson and Sheila Stinson won the back 9. Category prizewinners were as follows: A: B. Rice, B: U. Cullinane, C: A. Murphy and D: J. Lappin. R. Grimley won the committee prize while B. Loughran won the Past Lady Captain's prize. T. McManus won the putting competition. D. Maxwell was the recipient of the men's prize. F. Cullen won the Juvenile Girls' prize with G. Carmichael in second position. C. Calvert came first in the Juvenile Boys' category with S. Reilly runner up. The presentation of prizes took place after a beautiful meal in a packed clubhouse when Lady Captain again made family and friends very welcome. H. McLaughlin proposed the vote of thanks to the Lady Captain and S. McRory seconded it. The celebrations concluded with music and dancing which continued until the wee small hours.
