Thursday 5th June 2025 - County Armagh Golf Club was abuzz on Thursday evening having held an Invitational Open in memory of Past Lady Captain June Humphries.
Sadly June passed away in March last year 2024 and her family have very kindly donated a cup to CAGC in her memory.
To mark this inaugural occasion June’s husband Noel, son Alan, daughters Lynsey, Judith, Jill and extended family were all in attendance on the evening as the June Humphries Memorial Cup was presented.
Lady Captain Frances Davidson welcomed members and visitors to a very well attended clubhouse and spoke very fondly of Past Captain June. Lady Captain acknowledged all June’s family for their kindness in donating a cup in her memory. Lady Captain Frances also thanked Laura Keegan ‘Keegan’s Bar’ for their very generous sponsorship.
Paula Mc Crory handicap secretary announced the winners for the Open.
Anne Black with 41 points was presented with the cup from June’s daughter Lynsey. Anne thanked the Humphries family and recalled on some lovely memories of June.
Lynsey spoke very affectionately of her dearest mum and how delighted the family were to present the memorial cup to CAGC in her mum’s honour.
Flo Mc Call, Ladies Section Secretary and a very dear friend of Junes announced the Raffle winners. Flo thanked everyone sincerely for their contributions throughout the day which resulted in raising an outstanding amount of £5100.00 towards Ovarian Cancer.
The evening concluded with Flo Mc Call also thanking June’s family and her reminiscing about June and all her golfing antics! Let’s say we will all remember June for her vibrancy and humour and in her words “next time you’re heading out on the course remember your bag, ball and battery!”.
