Lady Captain Ellen Brady welcomed a packed clubhouse of ladies to the annual Supper Evening at Co Armagh Golf Club on Tuesday 23 January.
Traditionally this is the first event of the social calendar for the year and it provides an opportunity to catch-up with friends, have some craic and to begin to think about the season ahead.
Welcoming everyone to the evening, Lady Captain Ellen thanked the ladies for the cards and messages she had received on her inauguration, which she truly appreciated. In terms of up-and-coming golfing activities she advised that, weather-permitting, the Spring Competition was due to commence on Thursday 1 February. Further details would be issued in due course. This competition is once again very kindly sponsored by Lady Captain Ellen, Ellen’s Fish & Chips, Keady.
Another eagerly awaited event each year is the outing and this year it will be to Slieve Russell on 21 and 22 April. Lady Captain Ellen encouraged those wishing to attend to enter their name on the sheet in the locker room.
In conclusion and in expectation of an enjoyable evening, Lady Captain Ellen thanked all those involved including Ryan and Brenda, Parklands Restaurant; Neil and the bar staff and Honorary Secretary Flo and Committee Members.
To keep the braincells active sheets with 30 dingbats were circulated amongst the tables and there was plenty of opportunity to mull over the answers before, during and following the delicious buffet supper provided by Parklands Restaurant which was washed down with a glass of wine courtesy of Lady Captain Ellen. Despite the protests about the difficulty of the task, there was a tie on 27 out of 30 for third place, necessitating a tiebreak question!
Following a raffle of prizes provided by Committee Members, the evening concluded with musical entertainment by some of the band members of ‘The Bare Bones’, no strangers to Co Armagh Golf Club.
