On Thursday 19 September, ninety-five ladies played in the annual McAnerney’s Charity Open Stableford Competition which was once again very generously sponsored by McAnerney’s Supermarket, Armagh.
As has become customary, the sponsor, Mrs Catherine McAnerney held a coffee morning that day in aid of Newry Hospice, raising a fantastic £1255 for the very worthy cause.
Co Armagh ladies competed alongside more than 20 visiting ladies for the cup and voucher prizes, with proceeds from the golf going towards the Cancer Fund for Children.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the Competition Scratch Score 70.
The club house was packed for prize-giving and there was a very warm welcome for Catherine McAnerney, fellow golfer and sponsor. Lady Captain, Mrs Moya Brady thanked her sincerely for her long and valued sponsorship.

Mary Knott won the 9 hole competition with 21 pts and Gina Morris was second with 19 pts.
Celine McParland won the Time for Nine competition with 15 pts and Michelle Kinane won the Sunday Stableford with 33 pts.
Accepting her prize and the Cup, Jayne Henry thanked Catherine McAnerney, McAnerney’s Supermarket for their continued support and generous prizes.
There were 2s at the 3rd for Sarah Rafferty, at the 9th for June Humphries, Pauline Vallely and Marie McGreevy and at the 11th for Dympna Fitzpatrick, P Nixon and Mary Black.
There were birdies at the 5th for Colette McSorley, 8th for Ellen Brady, 10th for Alexandra Mawhinney, 16th for Karen Shaw and at the 8th and 15th for Sarah Rafferty.
The handicap cuts were Mary Knott 35-34 and Libby Lamont 38-37.
Catherine McAnerney thanked all those took part in the competition and attended the coffee morning and she paid tribute to Theresa, Flo, Ronnie, Geraldine, Hilary and Audrey who had either contributed or assisted her with the successful event.
