AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Thursday 22nd June 2017

To mark the successful completion of the 8 week Get Into Golf programme the Ladies Branch of County Armagh Golf Club held a celebration evening. Wine and refreshments were enjoyed by the participants who then took part in an enjoyable and informative table quiz on the Rules of Golf.

Participants were presented with certificates to recognise their involvement in the programme which was developed with the able assistance of Rory Leonard, the Golf Federation Officer for the Get Into Golf Initiative.

The Lady Captain, Gail Steed, in front of a packed clubhouse, thanked Rory for his invaluable support, and Mr Will Carey, the newly appointed Head Professional, whose enthusiastic coaching of the novices helped them make considerable progress over the 8 weeks. Many present speculated that if Will can assist existing members to improve as much in such a short period the prospects for success of club teams will improve dramatically.

Gail went on to thank the lady members who forfeited their 10 30 am slot in the draw to facilitate the GIG initiative. She also recognised the involvement of the ladies who acted as buddies, namely Una, Elizabeth, Ann, Sheila, both Catherine's, Teresa, Pauline, Francis, Ellen and Lorraine who provided excellent support.

The Captain Mr Richard Stewart attended the event to congratulate the ladies on the success of the initiative and welcomed the 19 of the original 29 ladies who began the programme, who have since decided to take advantage of the membership deal on offer. He expressed hope that they would enjoy the advantages of membership and would soon become active participants in club activities.

The Lady Captain concluded the evening by wishing Richard a successful Captain's day on Saturday 25 th June.
