AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Sixty one ladies competed for the P.G.A. Tankard kindly sponsored by Killeen Hardware, Newry Rd, Armagh. The early birds got the best of the weather on a beautifully manicured course.

Local government official Lynn Brown collected first prize with a fantastic score of 41 stableford points. Lynn who has featured regularly amongst the winners this year has had her handicap cut on several occasions and lost another two shots this week. Four points adrift was Teresa McVeigh in second place and Moya Brady also returned 37 points to pick up third prize. Barbara Hamilton, Emma Oliver, Phil McKenna, Paula McCrory, and Hilary Johnston all scored 37 points.

The category winners were as follows A: Barbara Hamilton 37 points. B: Phil McKenna 37 points. C: Jacqueline Kelly 36 points. D: Margaret McNamee 33 points. Marie Wilson was tops in the nine hole competition and the best par lady was Ann Attwell. The lady captain Hilary won the front nine and Carolyn McCall was best over the back nine.

Hilary presented the prizes in a crowded clubhouse which also included a representative from Cancer Focus, Rosie Forsythe. The Lady Captain had chosen Cancer Focus as her nominated charity.

A total of just over £2,000.00 was donated by the members and guests and Hilary presented the cheque. Rosie thanked the Lady Captain for her generous donation and informed all present that the money would be directed towards further research into breast cancer.
