AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

On Thursday last, 47 ladies competed in showery conditions in County Armagh Golf Club for the prestigious Macmillan Cancer charity competition, very generously sponsored by Vincent Mone & Son, Keady.

Even though underfoot conditions were quite wet, the greens were in pristine condition which led to a few very good scores. The top golfer on the day was Jacqueline Kelly who is a frequent visitor to the winner's enclosure this year. Jacqueline's 41 points earned her a handicap cut of 3 shots. The runner-up with 37 points was Ann Black, closely followed by Una Cullinnane and Paula McCrory in 3 rd and 4 th place with 36 and 35 points respectively.

The following category winners were:

Category A- B Rice 35 points

Category B- C McAleavey 32 points

Category C- N Spence 32 points

Category D- C Oliver 32 points

The front 9 prize went to D Harris with 19 points, while M Marjoram picked up the prize for the back 9 with 18 points. The 9 hole competition was won by M Knott and G McGowan was the top par lady with 30 points.

Ann Mone of Vincent Mone & Son presented the winners with a beautiful array of prizes in a packed clubhouse. Ann Mone said: “ We are delighted to be involved in the Macmillan Cancer charity competition and with proceeds going to such a worthy cause we hope to continue our support of this competition in the future.”
