President’s Day at County Armagh Golf Club being one of the most anticipated events on the club calendar created its own little piece of history on Saturday 16th August 2025. President Elizabeth Mawhinney, the first lady to become President of this magnificent and historic Georgian Parkland Course hosted a two day event showcasing the huge array of golfing talent.
The weather being extremely kind along with the presentation of the course led to some fabulous scoring over both days. Members turned out in great numbers to support this event and taking the greatest advantage of the conditions was our winner Mr Patsy Hegarty who returned a superb 47 points.
There was a tremendous buzz around the club over the course of the two days culminating in a sumptuous presentation dinner provided by the renowned Parkland Restaurant with musical entertainment by Jack Daniels. On the evening President Elizabeth gave a well-received speech in which she thanked family, friends and club officials for ensuring it was a truly memorable occasion. Her thanks also went to everyone for their generosity in supporting her charity, Women’s Aid Armagh Down.
On behalf of the club Mrs Ann O’Hea responded with a vote of thanks in which she praised our President for her long and continuing service throughout the years.
Events like these continue to showcase the welcoming and vibrant spirit at County Armagh Golf Club and members can now look forward to many more enjoyable competitions in the months ahead.
