It is a great honour to be Captain of County Armagh Golf Club for 2017.
I am fortunate to be taking over at a time where we can continue to consolidate our position as a first class golf club.
I look forward to working with Vice Captain Colm Shannon and with our esteemed Club President Walter Neville who has been a long-standing servant in many different capacities over the years.
The support of a dedicated Council and strong financial management means we can also plan for the future with optimism.
My congratulations and best wishes for the year go to our Lady Captain Gail Steed. Already this year Gail has been supportive in developing various initiatives for the benefit of the club. I wish her and her Ladies Branch all success and good luck in 2017.
My best wishes also go out to all our various teams for the coming year. County Armagh Golf Club teams have always shown great sportsmanship and competitive spirit wherever they have played, and I have no doubt they will further enhance the identity of the Club throughout Ulster in 2017.
I am very grateful for all the encouragement that I have received from many members and including our Honorary Secretary Paddy Burns, our new Honorary Treasurer Pat McAleavey and Elizabeth Allen in the club office. Also, from Damien and his team in the bar and our caterers Joey and his staff, thank you for all your help to date and in the future.
County Armagh Golf Club relies on the support provided by its members and I would urge you all to continue to support us - on the course, in the bar and restaurant and in promoting the club in the wider community.
I look forward to a wonderful year of golf andit would be my hope to meet and play with as many of you as possible.
