AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

County Armagh Golf Club's over-65s competed once again for the Arthur Mayne Cup on 2 August, when the annual event was generously backed by Rumour Cafe.

Prevailing among this hotbed of venerability in 2020 was Patrick Quinn, who recorded a superb 40 point-haul. Patrick was in scintillating form during a first half containing a birdie on the 4th, 23 points and just 36 shots.

And although he would find the going somewhat more difficult on the homeward trek, pars at the 12th, 14th and 15th helped to secure his marvellous 10-pver-par total. The warranted outcome was Quinn’s receipt of the Mayne silverware and a new handicap of 13.

The ever-energetic Noel Loye finished as runner-up to Patrick. Noel carried his bag around the 18 holes as usual and powered across the finish line with four consecutive closing pars, thus securing a solid, handicap-equalling 36 points.
