County Armagh Golf Club have bowed out of the All-Ireland Four-Ball Trophy after succumbing to defeat by Nuremore in the Ulster Final of the competition on Sunday 26 August.
The provincial decider took place at the neutral venue of Dungannon where, despite an encouraging start which saw County Armagh ahead in the first three matches through 10 holes, the Monaghan outfit ultimately showed greater patience and experience to turn their tie in their favour and secure a deserved victory.
County Armagh Golf Club's All-Ireland Four-Ball Trophy team registered five inter-club wins before losing out to Nuremore in the Ulster Final at Dungannon.
Commiserations go to the squad on missing out on the All-Ireland series, which will be hosted by Limerick Golf Club in mid-September. However, congratulations and thanks are also due to captain Tim and his doughty charges. After reaching the fourth round of the tournament in 2017, the team enjoyed even greater success this campaign, with Knock, Holywood, North West, Dunmurry and Greenisland all conquered on their thrilling run to the Ulster Final.
With our All-Ireland Four-Ball Trophy interest now ended for another year, all eyes turn to the Ulster Cup, where County Armagh gained 3½ of the seven points on offer from their semi-final first leg at Malone on Monday 27 August. The return encounter will be played in the Cathedral City at 1.30pm on Sunday 2 September, when all members are more than welcome to come along and cheer on the boys as they bid for a spot in the final. Best of luck to skipper Marty Daly and his Ulster Cuppers!
