On a day when the course bathed in searing sunshine, Mark Keogh turned in a suitably red-hot performance to grab the glory at County Armagh Golf Club.
In the Sunday stroke competition on 16 July, Keogh's winning nett 62 scorecard was a fuss-free affair, comprising as it did a neat-and-tidy 10 pars and eight bogeys.
Mark has had his handicap slashed from 16 to 14 on account of this impressive gross 78 but that should cause him few problems in the weeks ahead, especially if temperatures remain high enough for his liking.

Trailing Keogh by two shots was Brian McGuigan, who produced a superb round of his own to take second place.
McGuigan posted a birdie at the 15th, 13 pars and just four bogeys on his way to a magnificent gross 73 that means he's now teeing it up as an eight-handicapper.
Brian's nett 64 total was equalled by Colin Clarke, who lost out on the overall runner-up award because of his inferior back nine but deservedly took the category 1 plaudits. Clarke birdied the 3rd and the 8th but ended 5, 6, 5 having been only two over par after 15 holes. Nevertheless, a gross 76 represented a terrific day's work for the now 11-handicapper.
A nett 67, which included a fine run of six straight pars immediately after the turn, earned second prize in category 1 for Jamie Calvert.
Another man edged out by McGuigan on a break of tie was Christopher Lester, whose own splendid nett 64 secured the category 2 honours. This gross 78 is just the latest chapter in Lester's highly productive season.
Laurence Corr carded one birdie and five pars and, perhaps just as satisfyingly, avoided anything worse than a bogey at the other 12 holes, which all added up to an excellent nett 65 and the category 2 runner-up berth.
In category 3, Noel Conn registered a par on each nine as he took top spot with a commendable nett 67 that also means a one-shot handicap reduction.
Filling second spot here was Turlough Brady, whose nett 69 contained a solid finish in which he was just three over par for the last five holes.
The gross prize went to Shea Smyth after a classy level-par outing in which the two-handicapper notched four birdies, four bogeys and pars everywhere else.
Speaking of sharp-shooting redheads, Lee Campbell was victorious in the Wednesday Open on 19 July with a brilliant gross 73 and its accruing 38 points.
On the same day, the Senior Open honours were scooped by Brendan Beagan with 39 points. In the style of the aforementioned Brady, Beagan sparked into life on the home straight and was just one over par for the closing six holes.
Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth's triumph in the 146th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale on 23 July means that Aidan McParland is now the proud owner of a new TaylorMade M2 driver. McParland correctly picked the tournament champion in a sweepstake run by club professional, Will Carey. Well done, Aidan!
