JIMMY Wilson may have been disappointed by his bogey, bogey finish in the recent County Armagh Club Sunday stroke competition. But he needn't have been.
His finishing nett 66 score was the best of the day – albeit on countback.
Henry Lyttle returned the same nett 66 score, but it was Jimmy's level par back nine, including birdies at the 10 th , 15 th and 16 th holes which effectively decided the eventual winner.
Playing of a handicap of 5, he produced an equally impressive front nine with a birdie at the 6 th hole part of a one over par score by the turn.
Henry Lyttle (20) was the deserved runner up with a steady round and a birdie two at the 13 th thrown in for good measure.
James Currie (5) was another to lose out on the top prize after returning a nett 66. He was two under par after a front nine which include birdies at the 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th holes, but let slip three shots on the homeward trek. However, his efforts didn't go unrewarded as he collected first prize in Category 1. Neil Linton (7), with a nett 67, was runner up.
Jim McKeown collected first prize in Category 2 after returning a nett 68 with Gerard Mone (18) runner up losing out on countback after also returning a nett 68.
Eamon Toner's nett 67 was the best in Category 3 and could have been much better but for a triple bogey at the 10 th and double bogeys at 12 th and 16 holes. Benny Simpson was runner up with nett 69.
The Best Gross score of the day was that of Neill Cromwell's, 70 – a playing partner of the day's winner Jimmy Wilson.
