Adam lifts PGA Cup

ADAM Hunniford will represent County Armagh Golf Club in the Professional Golfers Association Cup competition later this season after winning the local event.

The nine handicapper returned the best stableford score - 40 points - to win the competition which was kindly sponsored by the Armagh Potato Co Ltd.

Henry Lyttle will feel hard done by after returning the same top score but had to concede to Adam on a better back nine count-back. Failing to score at the 4th hole ultimately cost handyman Henry.

Philip Kelly's 39 points won the Category 1 first prize with Tom Calvert, who despite penciling a 'no-score' at the 6th hole, took the runners up prize with 38 points.

Competition's Convenor David Baird's birdie 2 at the 13th hole was the difference between winning the Category 2 first prize and taking runners up which Paul McCreesh had to settle for after returning the same 39 points and losing out on countback.

Brian Liddy returned 38 points to claim the first prize in Category 3 where Brian Cleland was runner up with 37points.

Stewart Stevenson shot the day's best gross points score - 34.

Adam Hunniford is congratulated by County Armagh Golf Club Captain Pat McAleavey after winning the PGA Cup competition, sponsored by Armagh Potato Company Ltd. Included also are category winners Philip Kelly, David Baird, Henry Lyttle and Tom Calvert
