Four-star Andy better than all the rest

KILLYLEA golfer Andy Millar reckons he could have broken the course record in the recent County Armagh Golf Club stableford.

The 5-handicapper shot a nett 61 for 45 stableford points in the Sunday competition- a massive four points better than the rest of the field.

He was certainly right on course for a record score after nine holes when he stood six under par with birdies at the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th holes with 28 points secured. Across the back nine holes he added a further 18 points to his tally for a total 45 points, dropping only two shots on that inward trek.

Another Andy, Andy Conn, was the closest anyone came to the Millar man, but even his impressive 41 points looked poor in comparison.

John Lowe's 41 points secured him first prize in the low handicap category with Nigel McMahon in runners up spot with 39 points.

Johnny Palmer won the mid handicap category with 37 points ahead of Alan Magwood making a welcome return to the winners enclosure, taking second with 36points.

And Jim Carberry took the top prize in category 3 with 38 points - Aidan McParland in second with 37 points.
